Hilary’s latest book is Mini Saga in South Africa, published by Friesen Press, and can be found everywhere online and in local book retailers. Hilary Crowley is an author and a physiotherapist. She lives in Summit Lake, north of Prince George, BC Canada. She is also founder of Samuha Overseas Development Association (SODA) which is a charity based in Prince George that supports Samuha’s disability program in South India. www.samuha.ca. The Samuha website also documents the work of Samuha with lots of photos & videos of our work.

Hilary’s genre is mostly travel memoir. In 2019 she published Footsteps to Freedom – Tales of Therapy in Rural India. This book covers 25 years of experiences volunteering in a community based rehabilitation program in rural south India.

Her second travel memoir, Health in the Himalya – Tibet Bhutan Ladakh, shares stories of health interventions in remote Himalayan communities and offers a glimpse into these rich Himalayan cultures.

Mini Saga in South Africa

This Travel Memoir is set in Apartheid South Africa. It not only recounts Hilary’s exciting adventures but also explores the political landscape of the time and the effects Apartheid had on the African people. Hiking in the Drakensberg, visiting Zululand and viewing wildlife all contribute to the excitement, while meeting most interesting people and working as a physiotherapist to enable these adventures.

Tales of Therapy in Rural India

This Travel Memoir transports the reader to rural India during the height of the polio epidemic. We see rural life through the eyes of the children as we follow them over 25 years from crawling in the village to productive lives as young adults.

This 2nd Travel Memoir shares stories of health interventions in remote Himalayan communities and offers a glimpse into these rich Himalayan cultures.
